ChoreoLab 2026

To further our mission of regional inclusivity, we are actively seeking a more balanced representation of artists from New Hampshire and Vermont. Recognizing a historical trend of higher participation from Vermont, we are introducing two $500 seed grants—one for each state. These grants are designed to support a full-week residency at the Barn in Corinth, ensuring equitable access for creators across the Twin State region.

Eligibility & Requirements

To be eligible for the seed grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Residency: Must be a legal resident of either Vermont or New Hampshire.
  • Age & Logistics: Must be at least 18 years old and have access to independent transportation.
  • Availability: Applicants must be available for the following mandatory dates:
    • ChoreoLab Residency Showcase: June 27th at The Barn.
    • TJDF Festival Show: July 17th and 18th.
  • Compliance: Must adhere to all standard residency requirements.

Note on Groups: While an artist may apply on behalf of a group or company, the grant funds will be awarded solely to the primary applicant.

Accommodations & Studio Access

  • Lodging & Meals: Free lodging is provided on site. Residents have full access to kitchen facilities for cooking and will receive a $150 food stipend.
  • Extended Studio Use: Beyond the mandatory residency week, artists may continue to use The Barn’s studio space free of charge, provided they give advance notice.
  • Additional Spaces: Access to other local studio spaces may be available for free or at a reduced rate. In these instances, artists are responsible for coordinating schedules directly with the studio owners

 Studio space:

The Barn, located in Corinth VT, is a climate controlled dance studio with a professional floor, mirrors and barre. It has high ceilings and is free of structural barriers. Floor dimensions are 30’ width x 25’ depth. There is a separate entrance to a small room for changing and for breaks. The space is well suited for small performances: it has professional lighting, audio and wireless internet.

DANCE AND Movement Center, located in downtown Barre, VT. A state of the art studio, with high ceiling, new Marley floor, mirrors, dressing rooms, bathrooms.

Contemporary Dance and Fitness, located in Montpelier, VT, with multiple easily accessible studio spaces inside the Greenway Institute.

Creative Expectations & Performance Opportunities During the residency, artists are required to develop a new, original work that has not been previously performed. While the work does not need to be a finished production, it should clearly demonstrate the core choreographic concepts and structure that will define the final iteration.

Mandatory Showings:

  • Work-in-Progress: A showing at the conclusion of the residency week.
  • Residency Showcase: A presentation of the piece at The Barn.
  • Summer Festival: A performance at the Briggs Opera House.

The Junction Dance Festival does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, and sexual orientation. Artists from the BIPOC and non-binary community are welcome to apply.
